The governor affixed his signature to the bill on Friday, following its approval approximately 10 days ago by the state House of Assembly.

Addressing attendees at the government house in Yola, Governor Fintiri conveyed his sincere appreciation to the members of the State House of Assembly for the expeditious passage of the budget. He pledged to maintain the cordial relationship between the Executive and the Legislature, emphasizing that his administration remains dedicated to serving the people.

Governor Fintiri assured the public that the budget, tagged as the ‘Budget of Reengineering,’ is meticulously structured to ensure equitable development across all local government areas. He announced that each local government area is slated to receive projects valued at a minimum of N1 billion, reflecting a commitment to regional development and inclusivity.

The 2024 budget estimate, totaling N225.8 billion, is divided into two main categories. Recurrent services account for N111.3 billion, representing 49.3%, while N114.5 billion, representing 50.7%, is allocated to cover capital expenditure. Governor Fintiri reiterated his commitment to diligently implement the budget, building upon the solid foundation laid in the preceding four years.

Key figures present during the brief yet significant budget signing ceremony included Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, Speaker Wesley Bathiya, several members of the Legislature, and commissioners.
